Provident is now coordinating a monthly Clergy Support Group to encourage interfaith peer-to-peer interaction and support. Every session is facilitated by a therapist who prompts and encourages conversation, and assesses individuals who may benefit from more intensive services.
Faith leaders have been reporting elevated levels of stress and anxiety in recent years as well as higher than the national level of burnout and loneliness.
The sessions are held on Mondays in an open group format, allowing interfaith clergy to join at any time. Topics covered include Burnout Prevention, Setting Boundaries, Signs of Abuse, and Busting Stigma.
Additionally, Provident Outreach Specialist Emma Bacila is launching a monthly newsletter for clergy to provide a light glimpse into therapy intended to help them feel more comfortable referring their congregants.
Provident thanks the Steward Family Foundation for their support of this work, allowing clergy members to participate at no cost.
