Provident recently received a $66,000 grant from the Jefferson Foundation to support their partnership with the Jefferson County Health Department to provide SOS (Survivors of Suicide) groups for teens.

Provident had already been coordinating an SOS group for adults in Jefferson County when they decided to expand the program.

“Out of the adult group, it really came up that there was a need for teens and young adults to have their own space to talk,” said Jefferson County Health Department Director Kelley Vollmar.

The teen group meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month from 6:30-8 pm at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in DeSoto.
