FCC Designates National Crisis Number

Last week, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted on the final rules to designate 988 for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. These rules will require that all telephone providers enable the FCC to designate 988 as the universal telephone number for a national suicide prevention and mental health crisis hotline, effective by July 16, 2022.
Provident was part of the effort to push this life-saving effort forward.
“Suicide prevention and mental health care work are gaining the support they deserve from the highest levels of government. We are thrilled to have this new life-saving tool available for the people we serve,” said Lindsay Jeffries, Provident Director of Clinical Services.
