Wash U Student News Promotes Partnership

News

Washington University’s Student Life newspaper recently ran an article about the school’s partnership with Provident to provide mental health support after-hours.
Habif Health and Wellness Center Director of Mental Health Services Thomas Brounk says the university chose to work with Provident because we were open to customizing our services and because of our expertise with local mental health resources.
“I think sometimes students can feel like, if they don’t have an absolute crisis, it doesn’t have a high enough priority to go talk to somebody. This is a way to encourage people who have anything going on to go talk to someone,” said Peer Health Educator Lisa Gorham.
Provident’s lifeline staff is taking after-hours calls from students.
Provident received 20 calls from students during a soft launch period in March and expects to see an increase in call volume during end-of-year activities.
